Hey. So I've been playing PUBG for some time, and I wonder why my FPS so low. I know that it's not a 2000$ pc, but I expected a bit more. I always dip under 50 fps, struggling to have 70fps (which doesn't feel like 70fps). I have set everything at low but it doesn't really help.

Specs

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 1200 @ 3.8GHz

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming

Ram: 2x4GB Kingston ValueRam DDR4

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB Dual-X

Storage: Western Digital WD10EZEX 1TB
OS: Windows 10

I was thinking that it was either the hard drive OR not enough ram. The computer is relatively slow when I'm on Chrome so yeah. I've had the HDD for almost 2 years now so perhaps it is it? Thanks.

Main PC: Intel i7-860 and Asus P7P55D-E LX (both for 15$) | Mismatched 7GB | WD10EZEX | ZOTAC GTX 1060 3GB | Antec EA500 (20$)

Could be the hard drive or memory, 16Gb is the sweet spot for most tasks

faster ram and CPU overclocked at at least 3.9GHz is what you want to fix the stuttery mess that is pubg otherwise. it's not your GPU so reducing settings doesn't change anything. it'S the way the engine manages the terrain loading

Primary System

  • CPU
    Ryzen R6 5700X
  • Motherboard
    MSI B350M mortar arctic
  • RAM
    32GB Corsair RGB 3600MT/s CAS18
  • GPU
    Zotac RTX 3070 OC
  • Case
    kind of a mess

no it's not hardware that's faulty, it's just the game.... in prerelease... by indie devs.

Regarding the terrain, I've played on the test server. Apparently they made the terrain less demanding on ram. It def is smoother, but even then. I know that the PC is good enough, so I guess get a better HDD since it's pretty old + more ram if possible I guess? Not sure if I can OC it that much tbh.

no nothing else but your CPU speed will fix this. buy a cooler if you have to. I've thorowly tested this on 3 ryzen build 1500x 1600 and 1700 and on haswell pentium anniversary

Pretty tight on money right now tbh but yeah I'll see what I can do. I wanted to upgrade the HDD anyway so I'll prob get a used 240GB ssd for like 80 and maybe upgrade the cooler.

the cooler should be cheaper than that xD. the ssd will help your windows boot time and it's really convenient but it won't help the game. there's no point on faster loading into the match and that's the only gain it will give. I'm not telling you not to get an ssd, but don't expect it to give you a better gaming experience.

Oh yeah I know, it's just that this current HDD is "on it's last leg". I had a 512gb ssd in the past and tbh it did help a bit in general, esp for gaming. I'll see though! Might not even keep this PC so who knows xD
