With the beginning of june, i decided to update my rig.

I dont plan much apart from what i am gonna buy, i build the rig, i do some tests and adapt my build to problems.

Or i just feel like i need to do something (mostly horrible) to my PC.

So, for everyone awaiting a well-thought-out build, you better stop reading right here, this content might not be appropriated for you. If i caught Your interest, there is probably something wrong with you and you should immediatly go to a doctor.

My rig actually looks very normal if nobody is around who knows what i changed over the last Months

Lets Go:

 

Parts List:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600

GPU: Zotac Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 AMP! Extreme Edition

Mobo: Asus Prime B350M-A

RAM: Adata XPG 8 GB DDR4 3200 MHz Dual Kit

PSU: Corsair GS 800 (the 2012 Version i think, im Not Sure, bought i used for 50 bucks)

Case: Enermax Vostrok

CPU Cooler: Alpenföhn Stella

Storage1: SanDisk SSD Plus 240 GB SSD

Storage2: Thosiba 500 GB HDD 7200 rpm

Additional: a DVD Drive, an Raspberry Pi 2 Model B sitting in the Front of the case

 

First Chapter: The Fan on the Top

This is just an old CPU Fan i had lying around. And i thought, that of the case is closed, i would benefit the cooling having a Fan pushing air into the case for the CPU to "breathe" from. Currently the air for everything above the GPU ist drängt in from the top, pulled through the CPU Tower and Than pushed Out by the Rest mounted repurposed AMD Ryzen stock fan. The Fan is powered from the CPU fan Header with a two pin Connection.

 

Second Chapter: The Paint Job

The Enermax Vostrok isnt a great case but its enough for the average User. So as a Standard atx case IT was black from the outside and silverish/Grey from the Inside. I sanded the whole case, have it a grounding coulor and painted it fully black after that

 

Third Chapter: The Raspberry Pi

I actually already did a Post about the Raspberry Pi in the front of my case a year or so back. Its mounted in a little case onto a wooden Plate to fit into the Card reader Slot in the front of the case. The Raspberry case has its own little Fan powered from the second USB Header in the mobo because theres Always power on the red and black Pins to Run the Raspberry Fan even of the Main system isnt powered on. I cut the cables of the reset Switch of the case, replaced the Switch with an actual button(that doesnt Need to be pressed down to connect the curcuit) and connected the cables of the mini fan to the button. The "reset" now turns on the Raspberry Pi fan. The processor of the Raspberry has a passive cooler aka a repurposed chipset heatspreader from an lga775 Gigabyte mobo. I Bad to do some cutting but the heatspreader now fits perfectly. I used thermal transfer tape to connect or with the ARM processor.

This leads perfectly to 

Fourth Chapter: The VRM cooling

I also used the North Bridge heatspreader from the Same lga 775 gigabyte board and Cut IT into two pieces fitting the vrm Chips of the mobo. I attached them with thermal transfer tape to the chips and secured them with zip-ties trough the actual vrm mounting holes of the mobo.

 

Smaller Changes:

To Put the giant GPU into this case, i had to Cut Out the two case pieces in the Drive mounting section of the case that allowed 2,5 inch Drives to be mounted directly in the case.

The Original case Fan is now in the Front pulling air in from behind the plastic front panel shroud.

I Cut Out two pieces of plastic in the sides of the plastic front shroud to allow better air flow, the hole in the bottom wasnt enough.

The dust filter of the top fan is actually the one that came for the PSU hole of the case underneath the PSU if you want to mount the PSU fan down.

The Power and HDMI cables of the Raspberry are running through the PC too, going Out through one of the case's extension Card mountings. The multi-power-port is attached by Screens to the right sidepanel of the case for the very purpose of connecting the Raspberry's Power adapter to it.

The mounting plate of the Raspberry has to be Cut Back significantly to fit the GPU, thats why one side isnt painted until today.

I have yet to do final Performance Tests because im Not that good in gpu overclocking/undervolting and the R 5 1600 is only running in a Basic oc of 3.6 GHz right now because i couldte find the time to do proper overclocking the last few weeks.
