Ideapad 720s or Envy 13t or Wait?

I plan to buy this for school (Computer Engineering) and was wondering if I should go for it or wait for more 8th gen i7 laptops to come out?

At this point of time, I think it'll be better to wait for more 8th Gen Kaby Lake-R laptops to be available. Or if you need it soon, there should be deals for 7th gen laptops as holidays are approaching.

You can yea, if it's on sales. Quite a number of 8th Gen laptops already available such as the Dell XPS 13, Acer Swift 3 (with MX150 GPU), HP Envy 13 (with MX150 GPU), etc.

Only if they are VERY CHEAP. I recommend laptop with i5 8250U (i7 8550U pretty much the same performance due to TDP limitation) and maybe with dGPU (MX150. Don't get 940MX, runs hot, consumes more power yet much less powerful) like Dell XPS 13, Acer Swift 3/Aspire 5, Lenovo 720S, HP Envy 13/Spectre x360, Asus UX330UA

I also saw the ASUS VivoBook S510  going for a little bit more than the envy and lenovo, is this the better option?

weak battery life, some plastic construction (not full metal chassis), keyboard and touchpad are a bit mediocre, also some S510 models uses TN panel/entry level IPS panel. The Envy 13 and 720S doesn't cheap out these
