There is a chance due to using an FX-8350 with a AM3+ motherboard with a weak VRM system.

That AsRock 970 Extreme 3 R2.0 is a 4+1 configuration...and look at the tiny heatsink over the VRMs.

Depends on what you are mostly using your secondary PC for, it may be better to just sell the FX-8350 + AsRock 970 Extreme 3.

People are upgrading to Ryzen or Coffee Lake, so used 4th generation Haswell or Devil's Canyon i5/i7's should be showing up.

It might be a good time to get a i5/i7 + Z87/Z97 motherboard for a good price.

Hi,

I have trouble with my old Pc. It sometimes freezes for no apparent reason.

These are my specs:

Asrock 970 EXTREME3 R2.0

AMD FD8350
12GB ram
GTX1050 Ti

The problem already occured when I used this as my main computer. Now I'm using it as my secondary PC and all  that's left from the old parts are CPU, RAM and the motherboard. It still has the same issues. I've already tested using different RAM bars - no difference.

I assume that the CPU is the troublemaker here.

What AM3+ CPU goes well with a GTX 1050ti?

Or did I oversee something and the problem is something completely different?

Thanks for your help,

Tim

Reinstall Windows. It doesnt sound like a hardware issue. Don't spend money on that system, FX is a dead end and poor value. FX8350 is already the best FX chip. The higher end ones are just factory overclocks that run hot and burn up motherboards.
