Weird drive issue

I have an external drive formated to exfat(so i can use it on windows and OSX) and Windows recognizes it but when I try to copy files over, it "completes" in five seconds but doesn't copy any data. I can access the data fine otherwise. On my mbp, OSX will recognize it but not mount it. I tried to repair it using the first aid tool in disk utility but it says that it is unsuccessfull. So now I have 100gb of data stuck on an external drive.

 

Edit: also I may not respond for an amount of time because school and stuff. (It's stupid. They don't let us carry our phones)

Now I can get my data on my mac but i still cant copy it on windows.

If it's a Seagate external, you can give our free driver Paragon a shot. The driver has versions for Mac which allow Mac systems to read/write to formats Windows "likes" better, and has a Windows version for formats Mac "likes" as well.

Just make sure that Mac devices are not attempting to format the external to APFS, Apple's new file system they're integrating, which is for flash storage and is not compatible with Paragon.

It is a samsung hdd in a sabrent enclosure. I solved the issue with the mac not able to get into it, but windows doesnt want to copy the contents on to the computer. It is formatted in exfat which is a file system that both mac and windows can read/write to.
