Best Router under 100 dollars

Nischaypro

Hey Guys,

I need a reasonably powerful but cheap router within my budget of 100 dollars.

My main requirements for the router would be

1. Handle 30 simultaneous device connections up to 50 on an average.

2. Ability to plug in a USB Storage Device to share files over the LAN

3. Warranty. Decent Customer Service
4. LAN ports are not an issue here. A decent WiFi Router enough to cover a range of 50 - 100 meters without any obstruction.

Internet Bandwidth is not an issue here. WAN port would be connected to a 750 Mbps Ethernet Connection.

Thanks again

1. What type of devices? Typical use?

2. Easy enough

3. All are poopy for the most part

4. 100m is not happening at all, 50 is pushing it. Wifi is a two way road, both need good antennas and most mobile devices are not that good.

PfSense on old hardware is nice, but only if you don't mind the high continuous power consumption.

For this setup I recommend a Mikrotik hEX Gr3 router with a ~$50 wireless access point (or a UniFi UAP-AC-Lite if you can stretch the budget by $25).

The Mikrotik easily does 2 Gbps (1 Gbps full duplex) NAT-routing, it's a super powerful routing platform with many features.

SMB file sharing is supported, though the options are somewhat limited. Routers aren't really designed for NAS duties.

Main Linux rig: HP Elitebook 2560P (i5-2410M, 8 GB, Pop! OS)

Living room/couch gaming rig: AMD 5800X, Asus TUF Radeon 6900 XT, 32 GB, 65" LG C1 OLED

Home server and internet gateway: Dell Optiplex 3040 MFF (i5-6500T, 16 GB, Ubuntu Server 22.04 LTS)

Phone: Asus Zenfone 10
