Computer won't boot with new m.2 drive

Hi, I recently bought a new ssd, Samsung 960 Evo 500GB

 

I am using a SilverStone ECM20 pcie to m.2 adapter

 

I have another 950 Pro on my motherboard..

 

When i slotted in the adapter, the PC won't boot, but when i take it out, the computer boots fine.

 

How can i solve this issue?

I think i misread. Is the 950 your OS drive?

check to see if there is a BIOS update for your motherboard....if not, could be a dead add-in card

 

also, can you get into BIOS or does it not post at all?

950 is my OS drive

I got this 960 because my 950 only has a capacity of 256GB, and does not have enough space for my editing/games

 

I also have 2 other HDD's (for movies)

 

What could be causing the issue? 

Doesn't show the screen to enter the BIOS. Also updated the BIOS recently.

Just a black screen when I turn it on.

RGB on RAM sticks, fans, gpu, all turn on.

do you have a POST speaker?

 

if you can find one, check the beep codes

 

or a post code LED display

new error, shown in BIOS, can't access when booted up

never mind... thank you all for answering my stupid questions

 

how i fixed it:

 

remove all other hard drives (HDD not my boot up drive)

 

Slot in SSD, boot up

 

Restart, slot back HDDs, 

 

Reformat new drive

still shouldn't have to, maybe one of them got unplugged (not fully seated)
