Ya, I wouldn't bother trying to find a motherboard for such an old system, better to save your money for an AM4 system potentially, about $70 Motherboard + $100 CPU + $80 for 8gbs of RAM.

Or if returning the 1060 is an option you could wait and see what Raven Ridge APUs will do on the desktop. get a CPU and possible GPU upgrade.

Or you could try to find a used older GPU that might work on that BIOS.

However, I would just upgrade the CPU and motherboard, because I don't think it makes much sense to spend so much money on older hardware. If you really want to buy a motherboard for that CPU, get a used one.

ok thanks

I am needing a new motherboard that can upgrade to bios 8 because i just got a GTX 1060 for my birthday and it is not compatible with my motherboard. If anybody can help me get one and help me make sure it is compatible it would be greatly appreciated. it needs and i/o shield, bios 8, and compatible with my other specs. I have a core is 2300 2.8GHZ, a GTX 1060 and a corsair CX500. The motherboard also Need to be MATX.

What motherboard do you currently have? What happens when you use the 1060 in it?

i have done tons of research and it is the bios of the motherboard. It is the foxconn 2abf hp oem and the bios cannot be updated to bios 8.
