Hi guys.

Last year around January I pieced together a beautiful little rig, and it's been incredible. This thing eats 1080p alive (at least for the titles I play) and works tremendously well. However, this year I'm considering some small upgrades to help the computer work better and look cooler. With more breathing room this year, I can now go all out on refining this rig.

First of all, I need to make sure my rig is well-cooled. Although my Corsair H50 works great, the GPU gets stupid hot under load (around 82*C at peak temps), sometimes resulting in a crash. I believe this is a result of a lack of fans to cool down the rest of the system. (I have one 120mm Cooler Master fan blowing into the top, but that's all). What are the best 140mm fans around? I'd like to keep the blue theme going as strong as possible too.

Secondly, I could use an SSD. I currently use a 1TB Seagate hard drive, and it works reasonably well and fast compared to any console I've ever owned. However, I could totally go for faster. I'm considering the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB, as the 850 series is widely considered the best on the market. However, it's pricey at $150. Is it worth that price?

Since it wouldn't be awfully more expensive, I'm considering an upgrade to Windows 10 since I still have Windows 7. Is that upgrade worth bothering with? Will I be gaining anything other than a longer lifespan for the OS?

Lastly, I'm considering some flair for my case. I'd like to light my case up blue to match the rest of my setup. Does anyone have suggestions for good lights or light controllers? (I do not have any drive bays on my case, so some may not work)

Any other suggestions (keyboards as mine is getting old, monitors, comfort of life upgrades, etc.) are welcome!

Thanks for all the help guys! Have an awesome day/night!

850 is worth that money, being the fastest SATA SSD out there.

You can upgrade to Windows 10 for free. Link to guide. It's from Microsoft itself so dont worry. A bit of a loophole since it's not intended for the general user though :P

The 850 is worth it. Definitely.

In terms of the cooling, perhaps 3 blue corsair AF140/SP140s or something similar blowing in the front, and one top one back pulling out. I believe phanteks and cablemod make pretty good LED strips, and the NZXT hue is a decent controller, although there are others on the market.

Hope it helped,
