101 degree cpu !!!

My laptop reaches 101 degree under load (gaming) is this normal it has a i5 2450m. How can I fix this Temps ? And will it slow down my computer a lot ?

Since it's got a Sandy Bridge processor I presume it's probably 6-7 years old, maybe it's full of dust or needs a new application of thermal compound, maybe both.

You can fix that by replacing the thermal paste (most just dry out over time, choking the parts with heat) and cleaning the fan from dust. At it's current form it's already slowing you down as it thermal throttles under load, i.e. slowing down to prevent further overheating.

101c is quite hot seeing as the TJ Max temp specified by intel for that processor is 100c.Will it slow down your computer? It should slow it down, yes, as the processor should be thermal throttling at that temperature.

 

How can you fix it? Like Cookybiscuit said it's 6-7yrs old so it's probably full of dust. Blow it out with some compressed air. If you're technical you could open up the laptop for better cleaning and replace the thermal compound on the CPU. You can also try using a laptop cooler which is a stand that your laptop sits on with fans underneath that blow cool air into the system.

grab a powerful vacuum and place it at the exhaust vent for 1 hr, it will clear out most of the dust
