Hi, I have recently bought a Logitech G710+ and find the keys are too soft, so can the switches be opened up and the springs replaced with stiffer ones?

I was looking at this website (http://www.originativeco.com/) for replacement springs. I just need to know whether the switches on the G710+ can be opened up.

Thank you.

So are you saying that the switches on the G710+ can't be opened or are you saying that cherry mx switches can't be opened in general?

if they can be i wouldnt tamper with them there is a mechanism in each of em that u cant change easily

Youd be better off replacing the switches as its far less time consuming and you need to know far less to do it.

Sure you can. You can swap springs and stems as much as you want for the most part.

Yes you can open up each switch individually and change the springs really quite easily there are some decent guides if you do a search for them

once you get the switches de soldered and off the PCB and out of the plate its quite easy to pop them apart with a small screwdriver it just takes forever and you have to be really carefull once there apart. The little leaves that do the switch are quite fragile so its always nice to have few extras.

what's with the people pulling shit out of their ass?

profo is giving you reasonable advice. he didn't mention you'll need to solder if the g710+ has a plate, which I'm pretty sure it does.

yes youll have to desolder the switches and LEDs from the PCB. The switches are quite easy the LEDs are considerably harder. Once yo have everything desoldered separated the pate (with the switches still in) from the PCB them pop the switches out of the plate and go from there.

As some people have mentioned above, you'll need to open up your G710+ and de-solder the switches as well as each individual LED. If you don't mind de-soldering 440+ solder points, and then removing the top switch cover out to swap the springs, then by all means go ahead. Do note that if you place a heavier springs in an MX Brown stem, you'll lose the little (or lack thereof) tactility that the switch has. If you're set on getting a stiffer switch with more tactility, you're better off swapping the entire switch to Clears for example (or experiment with other varieties). People that swap out the springs of MX switches are those who know what they are doing and are modding & lubing a custom switch that isn't produced by Cherry.

Oh, and once you're done that, you'll have to solder the LEDs and switches back ;)
