Whenever I try to boot I get a black screen even though I have windows installed on the hard drive that is set to boot priority #1. I cant go to boot menu because whenever I exit bio to restart or shut down and then on I get a black screen so I can't go into the boot menu. It seems like I got an old copy of windows because whenever I download it, it's blurry and it is different from downloads I see in videos. I downloaded the latest copy of the windows iso onto my usb and used that. I can get into windows by going into bios and selecting my HDD that has windows on it but if my pc restarts I have to power down and reboot and it says I'm booting in safe mode because apparently it was booting. I am after leaving the computer in the "booting" state for around 8 hours and still nothing happens. When it happens my keyboard and mouse turn off.

What boot mode do you use? Is this a laptop or a PC? Nothing should even take 5-8 minutes to boot, how old is this HDD and what type of connectors do you use? What website did you use to download windows? And you did use a program to properly format and install the ISO onto the drive, right?

Corsair 4000D RGB

Asus B550 Tuf Gaming II

Asus 7700XT Tuf Gaming

AMD 5600x3d

32gb 3200mhz gskil

Not sure what you mean by boot mode. It's a custom PC I built about a week ago. HDD is brand new and I'm using SATA. I used the Microsoft website and the media creation tool to download it onto the drive.

Are there other drives with different operating systems on them? What is really worrying is how you said it can be on boot mode for 8 hours. Any specs on the PC?

I used to have another hard drive with a different operating system but removed that the next day. As for the specs:(I don't have the monitor and ram is the same just the LED set) https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/mM8xM8

did you use gtp or mbr when you installed windows?  if the bios is set to uefi you need to do gpt, if its set to legacy boot mode you need to do mbr.  for windows 10 uefi and gpt are ideal.  you cant change it once the boot sector is written without reinstalling windows.
