Hi

Is there a way to limit the number of threads a program can use? For instance I would like to run a mallware-scan and use my computer for other things in the mean time. But the scan is using 100% of every threads making it hard to work or watch a stream. Can I limit it to using fewer threads, so I can still use my computer while running heavy programs in the background?

I don't know if you can do this on the mainstream platform.

Task manager, find it, right click, affinity. Uncheck the CPU threads you don't want it to use. Setting is temporary and only remains until reboot.

Note you might have to find it under details or other tab, not the process tab, to get the option.

Are you using admin account? If so, not sure what else to do. Maybe it is trying to protect itself from tampering.

Yes, I'm the admin alright. Sometimes my computer forgets about the simple fact that I FUCKING OWN IT.!

I got it to work on most programs, but not on windows defender. Is it simply impossible to limit the threads used by windows defender?

Don't know, never tried. Again, I assume it is probably a protection mechanism to avoid things interfering with its operation.
