Samsung Gear S3 Frontier iOS compatibility

Hi,

 

I was planning on buying a samsung gear s3 frontier in a few weeks to use with my s8+. I know they're fully compatible but if I was to buy an iPhone X next year when demand dies down would the gear s3 work with the iPhone? Notifications and music control are really all I need it to do. 

 

I'm still not sold on the iPhone X and waiting for reviews so that's why I'm not just buying an apple watch.

My guess would be no. Music control *might* work, but notifications won't, as it relies on the the Samsung gear application installed on the phone. The samsung watches work with other phones (i have used it with cyanogenmod on a samsung phone and my OP3.)

You can download the samsung gear app on iOS which leads me to believe it'll work to an extent. Just wish I knew what the limit for it is

Okay, I have had nothing to do with apple since 2012 when they ended app store support for 1 year old devices. 

 

If theres an app, it may work, but I wouldn't count on it being great. My brothers gear S2 plays much nicer with his S6 than my S2 and OP3.
