Hey, Thanks for visiting!

So, let me set the scene for everybody to make this as clear as possible because im stuck for ideas. I have just finished building my Q6600 system with a HD 6850 and because i hated it, bought a GTX 970 Windforce Edition. Motherboard spat out either error codde 56 or 5b, no idea what it was because it could go either way, when my 970 was in so i recently ordered an XFX eForce 680i Mobo to hopefully diagnose this issue and let me have my 970 to make even CS:GO on my 900p moniter playable (slightly overkill upgrade for this game but hey, i got a nice deal). Assuming my new Mobo works great i might keep t for a while but if it doesn't I need a CPU upgrade path as im sure the 970 works as the windforce logo lights up but it freezes on the Abit BIOS screen (Forgot to mention my Current mobo im upgrading from is a Abit AW9D). Quite frankly my cpu is a huge bottleneck and i have no idea what is the best way to upgrade on a budget. As im 13 I hope to get alot of money from both Christmas and my Birthday (Who doesn't?) and i might be able to pull everything together to make a full CPU+RAM+Mobo upgrade on a fair budget.

Pretty much all I want to know is what Intel and AMD upgrade paths are worth it over a Q6600 and what could work on a moderate budget but I really dont know what that budget could be. Thanks for reading this far and I would love a reply as im lost in what to do in my current situation.

Dam, quick reply!

I believe it is my motherboard because after i get my error code with 970 when i switch back to HD 6850 i boot Windows and all is good. I saw a post with somebody getting the same thing on an Abit Mobo with another Pcie 3 card, which is why I think it was the Mobo. Im going on holiday tomorrow which is annoyingly when my new Mobo comes but il reply when i get back about any different results as it also has an LED code thingymajigger.

Il look into that gen, my brothers computer uses an I7 4790 with a 1050ti so i am aware of how capable that generation is. I dont know much about it, but i heard from another forum i posted in about LGA 1155 being potentially worth it. Anyway, thanks for the advice as it has done me a big favour :)

Newer cards generally don't work with BIOS based motherboards of that ERA. You nee a 700 series Geforce or older. Your GPU and mobo both work correctly, they are just incompatible.
