Gpu Fan Not Spinning

My friends rx 380 is faulty, 1 of his fans suddenly stopped spinning properly. it spins better after he pushes on it but when he does anything graphically intensive it just doesn't spin. the fan gets really hot and temps rise. i think he's had it for nearly 2 years.

he went to order a 1070 but the prices are so expensive, i got lucky with mine. i said to wait for black friday but his cards isnt working properly.

 

anyone know how he can fix the fan even temporary please?

 1800 rpm at idle isnt good

its normal for more modern gpus to not spin the fan at all unless they reach a certain temperature ( thats when they will start spinning ) my 970gtx does teh same x)

my gpu fan is like that, evey once in awhile ill have to push it to make it spin. 

 

as long as he gets no thermal throttling it should be an issue

well i think hes saying one of the fans wont spin but the other fan does. if one is they both should be

yeah i got that with my 970 too, one fan starts spinning unless it hits another level of temperature then both spin o,o

You mention that if he pushes on it, it'll start spinning.

Perhaps you could strap another fan on top of the GPU's fan, let it spin up with the GPU, and hope that the pressure of air is enough to push the GPU's fan enough to get it spinning.

 

It's a stretch, but at worst you strap a fan on and get it working.

i showed him the video but he doesnt want to do any diy. i asked him to look at the temps while running a game but he said if it sounds funny he doesn't want to play anything 

he's waiting for a refund then is going to order a 1070 from amazon.

oh i didnt say in the post. he ordered a 1070 on newegg and it was £450 so hhe then changed his mind and got it refunded but has to wait for the refund (2-3 business days) so he'll have the money to order from amazon.

find a fan extension and power the fan from the mother board if you can or have the fan @100% all the time. would need to open card though
