So currently, I am rocking an i5-4690k @4.2 Ghz, zotac 1070 FE, Z97X GAMING 3, A transcend SSD and a Toshiba HDD. Also a RM850X.

I am looking to upgrade to the 7700k which will be connected to a Asus Prime Z270A and cooled with a H110i. My storage, psu and gpu will be transferred over.

I won't be upgrading the GPU as it is totally fine, also don't want to sell it and then have to pay more for a 1080. Just focusing on things listed in the parts list atm. Maybe once I get a job I can afford one lol

Why do you want to upgrade?

Some games are getting less than preferred FPS. Games can stutter and the CPU is pegged at 100% when playing certain games.

Don't get a 7700k.Either get a 8600k or a 1600

the i5 8600k? The motherboards that are recommended for the 8th gen CPU's are quite expensive. Also the 7700k has HT which is a bonus over the i5.

You should never only compare specs. You have to look at real world benchmarks too.

Also if you want to compare it like it then the 5ghz of the 8600k is much better

My life

Didn't even know the 8600k could reach 5Ghz.

I know this is unrelated but does bf4 still have a big playerbase. Can I find a game in a few seconds? Do they still update?

I have no problems finding games. The game doesn't update anymore due to newer games being out however. I still play it. Played it earlier infact

not necesarilly. Like others have said, in terms of gaming, the 8600k scores higher.

Theres an example of actual tests done comparing them all. All around the 8600k is great and thats at stock speeds. People are easily getting near the 5GHz range when overclocking and it still stays much cooler than the 7700k. If all your doing is gaming or even a bit of multitasking workloads, it will do absolutely fine for you. Remember as you get up into the 2k/4k ranges on resolution, the GPU workload becomes much more compared to CPU, so if your playing on anything higher than 1080P, be prepared for your GPU to be a bottleneck Depending on your games and settings of course.

I'll only be playing at 1080p. So the 1070 should be fine with a 8600k I believe

Would this be a good list? assuming ram prices come down soon, or if I can get 16GB of DDR4 second hand. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/fDYfqk
