So I've been trying things to solve this problem, but I haven't found a solution anywhere:

Sometimes after I boot up my laptop the audio service just won't respond. I can't play any audio from whatever program. I've looked at services.msc, and the audio service seemed fine and was running, but when I try to restart it it won't respond to anything and it stays at 'stopping'. (I've also tried windows' troubleshoot, but as expected to no avail) Has anybody had this problem? I highly doubt it, as I haven't found it anywhere, but it's worth a shot.

More info needed.

OS, etc

Sorry, I totally forgot that!

OS is Windows 10 Home and I use a usb to mini-jack with my logitech g430, but every device I try hasn't worked, so i don't think the problem is in the hardware or drivers. Is there anything else that would be handy to know?

Usb to mini-jack...

why? Why not just plug it in straight?

Better yet, pull it out entirely, set it aside. Use the built in speakers, do you still have the issue when using those?

Yes I still do, and for why I use it: the G430 has separate sound and mic jacks, while the in-/output on my laptop exists of one combined mini jack.

Got updated drivers, both for your headset and the sound card?

Also, you can stop/start services from the command line, have you tried that way?

Also, laptop model please?

I have the latest versions of everything, and trying to restart the services from cmd I get: try again later. The laptop is an Acer Aspire E5-573.

  • 4 weeks later...

Sorry for the dead thread, the problem was suddenly solved, although today it's acting up again.

As for the question, now it just enters a loop:

Stopping the Windows Audio-service...................................................................................................................................................... (yes, indeed that many dots).
