problems with built in speakers on my monitor

I've got a samsung s27 series 5 monitor, and since I've switched my monitors I've been having trouble getting nvidia hd audio to output any sound to the built in speakers. I already tried reinstalling nvidia hd audio, but it didn't work. I remember I had similar problems with my previous monitor, but I don't really remember what I did to fix it. I'm using hdmi.

What operating system?

If you can I'd try to clean install the entire Nvidia driver. Not exclusively the HD Audio
