Transfer rate drops

Transferring files onto my flash drives both of which are brand new and usb 2.0 result in what’s seen in he video. If I transfer to a usb 3.0 hdd it’s fine. What’s causing this?

USB 2 isnt very good for transfer speeds. I would guess it's either a sata bottleneck to the drive or a USB bottleneck....I have the same thing, typically 35 mbps to about 15 when copying.

Ya but I’ve never had it drop to 0 like this and it’s copying from an ssd and is just copying 3 files

It's strange but my guess is that windows is doing something to it too...as I have noticed that a file in windows will take X amount of time but the same file on the same drive will take less time to copy in OS X. You could try a reformat to NTFS if you only use windoes computers but I don't think it would make too much of a difference
