So i bought an asus gt 1030 as a short term use card and 2 days ago it took a deep one on me... I went to launch a game and it loaded fine until it got demanding and then the game crashed and i got an error that said the drivers couldn't start... so i called nvidia and they helped me troubleshoot my issue and they said it was hardware... how can the graphics card hardware cause a driver startup issue? Ive also only had this card for less than a month... i called asus and they told me the first time i called that they wouldnt rma the card but i told them to send me to the top guy and they sent my case up the line to the people who make the decisions of wether or not to give me a better card... but i hope they can push a nice new card down the line to me that isnt a dinky 2gb passively cooled turd that costs $70

Two things...

1. ASUS is ass in my experience, their products are fairly poor in quality, and their support is subpar.

2. Why'd you go for such a weak card? You could've gotten something quite a bit more powerful for not much more.

Also, have you tried updating/reinstalling drivers? Did you have a GPU installed beforehand? If so, did you completely remove its drivers?

there are a few things which is happening here

driver improperly installed/driver corrupted

VRAM limit of 2GB reached

OC on the GPU not supported

PCI-E slot issues

Removed the existing drivers using Display Driver Uninstall

Reinstall the drivers from the nVidia website

make sure to reboot after uninstall and after reinstall

removed any OC software

tone down you graphics settings on the game. Like reduce from 1080P High to Med or even low details

Reseat the GPU or swap the GPU to another PCI- E slot

So let me get this straight. You bought a literal bottom of the barrel card. You used said card and toasted it because you tried to run it through a workload that it clearly couldn't handle. So now it is somehow Asus' responsibility to give you a higher end card because you were too cheap to buy one in the first place? Flawed logic much?

That's fine, but saying that Asus owes him a better card because he was too cheap to buy a better one himself is flat out absurd.

Oh yeah that is absurd..

Look i already kept on saying to asus that is the thermal paste issues..but all they saying is the fan..no matter how many times i repeat it..

Both email and live chat..its like they are a freakin bot or something.

Ok i read that and I agree its pretty dumb. Also my 580 overheated and thermal throttled then in the radeon settings in gaming, then global settings, (fullscreen) and then global wattman you could set the temperature target to 90 making which made the thermal throttling non existant. You might have tried that but i found the radeon settings terribly organized making it hard to find important features.

i originally bought that card because i couldnt find anything else that was within my budget of $80us and i had to have something... the damn thing was overheating from day one and i never overclocked the thing cause its passively cooled. i didn't want to break the little white sticker of no warranty to replace their shitty thermal goo with my mx-4 that i use normally. i have a 100% brand "new" motherboard( its from instructions were laid out in 2014 ut it was new in box from newegg) i wiped my old drivers from my hard drive cause you cant use amd drivers on an nvidia card and installed the new ones... once i started having theses issues i called nvidia to see if it was a driver malfunction or something and they said no after 1 hour of troubleshooting... i dont expect a better card but i was pissed off at them because they were being pricks so i said that i wanted a better card since my card qualifies for it anyways... the game that probably pushed it off a cliff was battlefield 1 but i was getting 45 to 50 fps which i was  amazed at but i didnt really play it all that much because i like to do RP on GTA 5 and i was kind of in a sweet spot between minimum and required spec on my graphics card

i got very pissed at asus because they were being pricks... i normally dont demand crazy shit from companies that i normally use for computer parts but between the customer support that barely met the minimum requirements for english and the fact that they wouldnt listen drove me absolutely nuts!
