So I got on to play Rainbow Six siege, as I usually do, and play normally with the same settings as always, when mid game my FPS drops to a consistent 30, and then a minute later, i get a message from the game that says "your ethernet cable is not functioning properly" and before i can react, my PC just powers off. It has now happened twice. Wtf is going on?! I have a perfectly legal copy of siege that I bought from Steam and launch using Uplay, and it has worked for me with no problems for 6 months. I have never had this problem with any other game. Help!

Both very normal. In fact, as soon as I started getting FPS drops the second time, I held my hand over the fans, and found that they were way cooler than they normally are.

the pcilane controller is getting hot and i do not think it has temp sensor so instead its using an OCP type safety (Over Current Protection)

thus shutting down lanes gpu getting slower the netcard shutting down then ram and oops pc shutdowns with ram

need a heat sink on the controller

You should check if your graphics card is damaged. You can try to check if your Ethernet cable is connected and secured. Also you should try to scan your computer with malware bytes for any malware. Viruses and malware can control your computer and shut it down from time to time

scanning right now. What kind of damage would I check for?

See if anything is fractured or broken. Check if it smells burnt. If it isn’t The case,   Open your case and startup your pc. Check if you hear anything cracking. If not put your case back. What kind of gpu are you having?

MSI RX 470

Have you overclocked RAM, CPU, or GPU?

An unstable config may cause random crashes.

May also be drivers- but I don't know anything about 'em.

Use HWMonitor and HWInfo64. These programs will tell you all the temperatures and voltages and components. Watch them while you are gaming.

Can you use HWinfo to check PCH/Chipset temperature? if not, can you feel if the PCH heatsink is hot?
