i am trying right now my radeon hd 6870 on the main x16 PCIe slot

and apparently yup dead gpu

So in may of 2015 I built a computer for the first time the specs are:

Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus Hero VII

CPU: Intel I5 4440

Storage: WD 1 TB Blue

GPU: originally AMD Radeon HD something, now AMD Saphire RX 280

Power Supply: Cooler Master V650

on August 21 of this year (2017) i was cleaning my pc and I saw that the Intel cooler clips on my cooler master something cooler were not properly attached so I tried to put them correctly but they just broke so I bought a new cooler (the cooler master hyper T4) and it was all running fine for about a week until one day I was mining etherium and when I tried to use the computer nothing would happen not even when I tried to turn it off using the power button, then i couldn't even get the computer to post after a few days of trying to fix it I got it to post using the internal Intel graphics and now it only works with the integrated graphics

does anybody have this problem, had it, or know how to fix it?

yes, I tested it the other day and nothing only the fan spins (btw the fans on the saphire RX 280 don't spin but I think that is because they only spin when the graphics card is at least under 30% load)

Yeah I think you just have a dead card. Or it could be the motherboard, have you tried it in a different pcie slot?
