I'm building a video editing PC and the only part I'm still unsure about is the GPU...

I know that video editing/rendering is more of a CPU intensive task but I still am unsure of the best card to get that can edit 1080p with ease, as well as some 4K content.

I started out leaning towards the GTX 1050 Ti because I don't plan on shooting in 4K anytime soon, but I decided that I wanted to future proof a little bit by getting the 1060 6GB.

Will the 1060 partnered with a Ryzen 5 1600X be powerful enough to edit in 2K and 4K? Or do I need to get a 1070 for a smooth timeline and playback in Premiere?

Gamers Nexus tested gpu acceleration in premier and while having a gpu improved performance, the type of gpu didn't matter. the 1050ti performed as well as the 1080. However that's only premiere. I'm looking for the video.

Edit: Can't find the video so take this with a grain of salt.

its more than enough

the GPU only really kicks in full force  once you finally hit export - even then my gtx 1060 was only being utilized 30-50%

as for scrubbing through the timeline thats more CPU bound from my experience in Premiere and should be just fine
