CPU Upgrade - i5 Coffee Lake / Ryzen

Hi,

Im looking to upgrade my current pc's cpu to either an i5 8400, 8600k or maybe even Ryzen because i'm going to have to change my motherboard either way since i'm currently on Haswell. What would be the best choice to match my GTX 1070 since in cpu intensive games like hitman, which severely bottlenecks my GPU, it is only at 40-50% usage on some levels.

Also when will the cheaper, non-overclockable motherboards for coffee lake be out?

PC Specs
CPU: i7 4790 | Motherboard: Gigabyte H81M-S2H | RAM: HyperX Fury 8GB | GPU: GTX 1070 | Case: NZXT S340 | Storage: WD Blue 1TB, Samsung SSD 256GB | PSU: Corsair CS550M | Operating System: Windows 10

H and B motherboards will most likely come out next year, any CL i5 will be better than any ryzen in gaming (i5 8400 seems to perform like i7 7700k or very close).

depends on the budget,i'd go for a 8600k

i7 4790K | 4.5ghz @1.19v / 1080 ti strix oc  / Asus Z97 Pro Gamer  / 970 Evo 500GB | 850 Evo 500GB / Corsair 780t white|window

                                                                                   PG279Q | VG248QE/ Corsair ax860i   /   Corsair H110i GTX   /  Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 2400mhz /

Would that not be a bit overkill for a 1070, since an 8400 performs similarly to a i7 7700k?

I'd pick the 8600K as well.

I'm prepping a 8700k build list myself.

But why are you concerned about non-overclockable mobos when you're looking at the K series new intels?

K is for overclocking... so I don't understand why you'd want a non overclockable mobo?

I'd specifically want the overclocking features in a mobo for that CPU.. I mean someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

Sorry I was referring to the i5 8400 if I chose that instead.

I'll get i5 8400 with H310 mobo
IMO i5 8600k+Z370 mobo not worth it, an i7 8700+H310 is better
Though H310 mobo only will come out next year

I agree but I don't really want to wait that long, maybe if its at the start of the year.

Also the 8600k is about £80 more expensive than the 8400 here.

Then go for 8700k+z370. If you don't want to spend much money then r5 1600+b350
