what would be best combination of pc parts

1800x and 16gb or 2400 ddr 4 trident z

or 1700 and 32gb of 2400 or 3200 ddr 4 ram

(depends on pricing and availability)

the 32gb or ram it will be mainly for the rgb look. i know gaming and streaming doesnt really use more than 8.

but aesthetically and future proof

thanks for the suggestions.

pairing it with 1080 ti and crosshair vi hero

An 1800x is just an overclocked 1700 and they'll both realistically reach 4ghz~. So get the 1700 and however much RAM you actually need (I'd say 16gb), you can always add more RAM later.

Although I'd look towards an 8700k instead as that should give you better gaming performance and would still be enough for streaming.

i used to be team intel but i've been using ryzen and so far i like it and no need to change back to team blue.

8 cores are fairly nice and to change motherboard and cpu for a minimal increase in gaming to me its not worth it.

i understand that to others it may be

But you don't own the CPU.....

enthusiast build. aesthetics.

So you already have the motherboard? How about your current kit of memory?

A R7 1800X's value is nullified by the existence of the R7 1700 which can overclocked to match or surpass the clockspeeds of the R7 1800X.

current set up

1800x with 16gb of ddr4 at 3000mh. my crosshair hero vi seems to only support 2666 or 3200 not 3000.

so im thinking of getting the 1700 and getting 32 gb of ddr 4 at 3200mh (4x8 for aesthetics)

But why do you need to change out your R7 1800X?! Is there anything inherently wrong with your current PC to warrant buying new parts?

my cpu was purchase as a gift from the girlfriend 1800x. 4 days ago. i personally dont see much of a difference between the 1700 and the 1800x (i had the 1700 and i gave it to my younger brother) so im thinking of exchange my 1800x for 1700 and getting another 2x8 ddr 4 trident z at 3200

Seems rather counter-intuitive to me. You don't seem to need the 32GB of memory anyway so why bother having to go through the process of exchanging your parts for no particularly significant gain?

a couple of reasons.

1800x compare to the 1700 was only about .2 ghz increase on my cpu.

so going from 2666-3200 mhz  16-32 gb  would be aesthetically pleasing and i wasnt sure if the increase in ram speed would outweigh the .2 ghz from 1800x

Probably won't be a significant gain either way. TBH, if you want to get a more RAM for the aesthetics, that's fine, but from a performance point-of-view, it's rather pointless.
