Putting a steam game on a CD disc

Hoads2047

I got a game on steam and i had to download it and it was a huge game (65+ GB) and i have the cover for it.

So i was wondering if i could get a bunch of discs and put it on that so i can put the cover to good use. Also i don't want to use up a USB and my steam backup doesn't work.

Thanks

I mean sure, at 700mb you'll need somewhere around 90 CDs (or 15 DVDs) but theoretically it will work however your gonna have to sit there and remember where you were up to on a good by file basis for every folder contained in the game.

Honestly it's just not worth the effort.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

You could, except that you would need to fragment the game into multiple chunks, and then right each chunk to a separate disk, then repeat in inverse when you want to pull it off again. And after that, Steam has to recognize the game and do its consolidation magic. But, long story short, yes, it would work.

OP states that he cannot use Steam Backup (though he doesn't say why) and you're assuming he has a BD-RW drive.
