Rendering Machine

Hi, I want to build a high end rendering machine and I dont mind about the gaming fps, what im focusing is on rendering especially 3dsmax software. Which processor should i buy? either Intel i9-7900x or threadripper 1950x?

When it comes to rendering, it tends to utilize more CPU cores to speed up the process, so in this case, I'd recommend going with the threadripper 1950X.

for the same price you are choosing between 10 or 16 cores.... so for rendering..... definitely go for 1950x...  moar cores will help with that...

Intel Core i7 7800x @ 5.0 Ghz with 1.305 volts (really good chip), Mesh OC @ 3.3 Ghz, Fractal Design Celsius S36, Asrock X299 Killer SLI/ac, 16 GB Adata XPG Z1 OCed to  3600 Mhz , Aorus  RX 580 XTR 8G, Samsung 950 evo, Win 10 Home - loving it :D

Had a Ryzen before ... but  a bad bios flash killed it :(

MSI GT72S Dominator Pro G - i7 6820HK, 980m SLI, Gsync, 1080p, 16 GB RAM, 2x128 GB SSD + 1TB HDD, Win 10 home

i would change the hdd for something like the 3tb toshiba p300 (i know you already have 4 but you get much more gb/$ and who knows you might use it in the future)

get the Corsair HX 1000! (only a bit more expensive but i like the monitoring feature)

to save some money i would go with lpx or something cheaper for the same performance but that's just me so if you like the RBG get the trident z

for cooling the kraken looks cool but i would go for something that performs a litle bit better like the evga clc 280. but if you want the looks go for it. btw i found the arctic liquid freezer 360 that has a tdp of 350 and was made for shit like threadripper https://www.arctic.ac/us_en/liquid-freezer-360.html

and you case seems to support it

@iscream93btw do you need 10gigabit networking?

for example, the one am building will be a workstation + nas for the other workstations so i want it to be 10g so other workstations wont be sharing 1g

thank you very much. I think i've got lot of answers right now. If not im quite confused whether to go intel or amd for this rendering stuff because im looking lot of reviews on this both monster and it seems that intel performance quite high

The Aorus 1080Tis are pretty sheet.

I'd go with Asus Prime X399-A and Strix 1080Tis or EVGA Hybrid ones, so they dont limit you with thermals.

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

Zotac 1080Ti AMP extreme is total garbshit.

It has total autist VRM that overheats even at stock
