amazon echo dot features?

does amazon dot do stuff such as ring if you get a text or phone call and could we use the dot to talk to instead of using a phone? also is the speakers decent enough to play spotify. thanks! it seems like a good bargain for $45

We've had a terrible experience with ours. Compared to the actual echo, we had to keep "activating" each and every single feature before use. So it would go "echo what's 1+2" "you need to activate that feature" the echo is decent but I would choose the Google home. But after having all three, we seldom use these. They both randomly activate when watching movies or even in dead quiet. The echo dot would be a waste of money, I would opt for the Google home IMO. But really, you're better off downloading an assistant app or using Google assistant on your phone if you want to save money. 

There's really not many reasons to get one unless you have the lights and outlets for the assistant.
