Hello i have a very importand question, which i was wandering about for a long time. Im building my first PC. I have chosen almost everything but Im still not sure about something. Should i get a better CPU(i7-7700k) and a liitle worse GPU (gtx 1060 6GB) or worse cpu (ryzen 5 1600) and better gpu(gtx 1080)? It would cost pretty much the same. Or maybe should i just stay with gtx 1060 6GB and ryzen 5 1600? Id also like to say i am not a hardcore gamer, and i dont play many highspecs games, but i want my PC to last as long as posible and be as "futureproof" as it can be. What should i do?

Sorry if i made any english mistakes, but im not native speaker.

No way to completely future proof your system. With the new release on Intel Coffee-lake as proof. The best future proof I'd say is the Ryzen because AMD did say that the AM4 platform will be around for a while so that would be a good start. If you are not into high gaming for now I would spec you with the following:

  • Ryzen CPU (1600 is good till the last AM4 R-Chip)
  • GTX 1050ti (Not a 1080 certainly not a overpriced 1060 because of the mining craze)
  • 8 GB of Ram
  • B350 board
  • 1TB mechanical
  • 120 GB SSD (m.2 or sata type)

I have a 1050ti and a R1700. I can throw a good number of my games at it with high settings and achieve a 60 fps on 1080p.  I'm assuming that's what you will be gaming on.

This is just my opinion and I know the 1050ti is the bottleneck to the R7 but I really needed this build for VM's and the 1050ti does just fine. I hope this helps to save you a couple bucks. In the future you can upgrade to a GPU and still be fine. Get a small 1050ti, for re-use purposes into an ITX build or to build another cheap PC for your significant other so you two can play together.

I think 120 will be OK for me. Im getting 1TB HDD also, so on this SSD will be only windows and important apps

its not about storage overall, its about when harddrives gets full they tend to slow down drasticly, and if you are getting an ssd I asume you are going to use it as C: (boot) drive. This means that ALOT of files are going into that harddrive. Its going to fill up rly quickly, and slow down your pc. Atleast 256 gb or no ssd at all. I have a 500gb ssd drive and thats perfect! Just a recommendation :)
