Halp, what cable is this?

I would like to know what type of cable and hoping it isnt propriatary. It was on the back of a 8" Dell touchscreen display, I was hoping to be able to adapt or sodder it to function with the raspberry pi. Thanks for any help

Very likely proprietary. With some digging , searching, screaming, and trial and error maybe you could figure out what's what but,  good luck.

It's a ribbon cable, commonly used in phones and laptops. Most likely to connect the display to the laptop itself. 

 

You probably won't be able to get it working with a Pi.

If you can find some sort of repair guide for the display, you might be able to figure out what the pins are. Then you could possibly solder different connectors.... but it's gonna be a huge amount of work to figure it out.

 

There's a small chance the pins line up perfectly with HDMI spec or something, so if you're really lucky, you could solder a cable onto it. Where is the display from?

 

Most likely it will be useless though. If there's any sort of other hardware that connects it to whatever device it's from, you'd have to bring that hardware over (probably not worth the effort) or remake it (pretty much impossible).

It is mostly likely display port but it has 2 extra proprietary pins, maybe something to do with the touch screen.
