I thought I would reach out to the community and ask for help setting up a super fast raid system.

I do fluid simulation for a living and I require the fastest reeds and writes possible, I just picked up 2 WD Black MD ssd's with reported W/R 2GBs and SATA caddy, but now I realise my error, SATA3 maxes out at 600MBs. Idiot!

I guess a PCIe card is the way to go, does anyone have experience with a setup like this and can point me in the right direction as to what card to get, I would like to get close to the 4GBs read and write.

Will I need a card with RAID on board?

Also is it possible to create a raid using two PCIe cards?

Cheers

So I found these, I have noticed people in forums are using this with x79 MB's, but I would imagine I cant have two cards in RAID0, will my WD Blacks work in these?

Asus are set to release a 4 bay version, but unsure when that would happen.

I am beginning to answer my own questions here...

So to use one of these Asus Hyper 4 bay cards I would need to have a VROC capable processor, which my sandybridge is not, VROC would enable me to use up to 128Gbs of bandwidth in one PCIe slot! So in theory with 4 of these cards I have would have W/R speeds up to 8GBs, now that is fast! However I am not ready to replace my workstation just yet so I will have to make do with a 4GBs limit, first world problems I know.

It seems that I will need to go down the slightly worrying route of using a modded Motherboard BIOS in order to get these HYPER cards working....
