The SP and HD fans use a different RGB protocol.

No way I know of to sync them up using stuff you can buy (please correct me if I am wrong.) You will have to make something, an arduino is the best choice, as then you can use the fast led library. I could write you a guide, as I have done something quite similar in my rig to get some SP RGB fans synced with aura.

Sync RGB fans with motherboard RGB header.

setup
3x SP120 Corsair

2x HD120 Corsair

Having all 5 plugged into a controller nets the SP120 to work, but the HD120 do not, only way i have them working at the moment is with 2 controllers. but they don't sync.

any advise on this?

They cannot sync as they are using two separate kind of protocols where the HD120 fans individually control each LED to do it's pattern and modes. I'm not sure but it might be possible using the lighting node pro but @Corsair Blake might have info on that.

I think the HD fans have 12xWS2812 leds in them. The SP120s have 4 seperate LEDs, but they are treated as one, and use the UCS1903 protocol.

Theres a thread over on the corsair forums with some detailed info about all the controller and hubs etc, as well as some custom control code to make some pretty cool effects.
