Hey guys, I've got a i5 6600, 16gb of ram, an ssd, and a gtx 1060 floating from 2114mhz to about 2126 at highest speeds. In doom im only seeing about 40/60% usage on the cpu. I figured this is due to gaming using 1/2 cores and it being doom at 1080p, and my gpu was in the ballpark of about 45 to 65% usage which I thought was weird. any thoughts as to what is happening? or is my monitor bottle necking performance in a sense? As in Im pushing so little frames its not being totally utilized? any help would be great! dont quote images btw. Sorry if you can't see msi afterburner overlay, thought pink was a good high contrast color.

Also I do realize V sync is on I cant seem to turn it off.

ur gpu usage is low for some reason , which is rather strange with taht cpu it shouldnt bottleneck really, however it is bottlenecking ( i think it is due to poor optimization on the game ur playing )

also make sure u dont have vsync enabled or fps limits ( because those do lower gpu usage without bottlenecking, its due to fps limit )

^  i just noticed u got fps limit enabled, disable it to get full use of the gpu

is that due to using open gl? Vulkan is being an ass and not loading

yea its starting to work now, usage is about low 90s thats good right?

99-100% is full usage, arond low 90s it means its beeing bottlenecked only around 10% ( u have 10% less gpu usage so 10% neck )

however that cpu shouldnt bottleneck.. that is quite strange :) i think its just software related

well, it was in low 90s for a little while more testing would be needed, I did research and my cpu or gpu should only produce a 8% max bottleneck

depends on the game really , u could have a zero bottleneck cpu/gpu combination and still get lower gpu usage due to a poorly optimized game ( or very old game that doesnt use many gpu resources )

true, doom is kinda new. quick question, I don't play AAA titles often and a I want to go sff I will only really play @ 1080p so I think temp won't be to much of a concern bc dirty bomb and csgo arent that hard

+ downclocking is a thing

set in nvidia drivers power settings > prefer maximum performance

however a downclocked gpu should increase the gpu usage and just cause low fps

Oh cool did not know that, also in the node 202 planned case im gonna use, I've seen 1 fan on the opposite side of the gpu die decrease temps more than dual fans, I should just rest and see what works the best right?

modern gpus dont really use much power anymore, the fans only go on when required / reach a certain temperature

Yea I figure if I get 2 noctua fans then it will be silent and cool, overall my pc would be fine in a sff scenario because it's just such a good pc for the games I do so thanks with the performance thing
