I have a spare hdd in my pc and wanted to install osx on it and turn it into a hackingtosh.

I was almost ready to install osx but when I needed to insert my osx disk I saw that it has a massive scratch on it.
I've tried to repair it but it didn't work.

I went looking but I couldn't find any other way to install osx through iBoot.

Do you guys know another way to install osx without the cd?

Thanks

PS the nearest apple store is about half an hour drive since I'm 17 that isn't an option to get a new disk.

Mountain Lion is a free download on the app store.

His disk is ruined, so he can't download it. As far as I gathered, he doesn't have it installed at all.

No I don't have it installed.

The disk was from an older iMac but that doesn't work anymore. My sister has an Macbook Pro but she's only at home in the weekends and even then I don't always see her.

If I download Mavericks on her macbook will I be able to install it or is it just an update?

Alright I'll give that a try when she gets home.

As far i know you need to do a Hackintosh with a Modified Bootable USB stick or a selfburned CD. You cannot simply use an original Apple DVD.

Someone said it before, check out TonyMacX86 for more information.

If you download Mavericks off the App Store you can use that, and the process is much easier than using a Snow Leopard disc and iBoot. The download is the FULL version, not just an update.

So, here I am again... I followed tonymacs guide and it worked, kinda. I got to the install screen of OSX and was able to install Mavericks, after it was installed it asked me to reboot my system, so i did.

And now it's just doing nothing. I get a white screen with an apple logo and a rotating circle.

Does anybody know what it is this time? :/

This is what I'm getting.

The problem was that it wouldn't boot without "-x", when I knew that I googled it and found that it could be caused by having VT-d enabled in your bios,

so I disabled that and it booted.

I still need "GraphicsEnabler=Yes" and there isn't any sound but i think that has something to do with my mobo running a UEFI instead of an old school bios.

You can use MultiBeast to make GraphicsEnabler=Yes by default. Did you install the correct sound kext for your mobo? UEFI bios' don't require a DSDT to run, so you shouldn't have any issues with it unless it just isn't compatible. Look up the built-in audio chipset on the GIGABYTE website, and install the correct audio kext.

I couldn't figure it out with the UEFI so I decided to qwitch back to a BIOS and now everything works perfectly!

Thanks for all the help guys.
