my current HDD hawe begun to show its age whit frezing the comp a few times and showing sector count errors on S.M.A.R.T status.

im planning to try and just clone everything from the failing HDD to a new one, annd wanna know if there might be hazardus to the new drive doing this.

feals unlikly but bether to ask than to get an error on the new drive also.

reason 4 cloning is that im unpatient and dont wanna go througt reinstalling all the programs and drivers couse iv had lots of problems whit it in the past.

Cloning a damaged drive to a new one won't damage the new one, per se, but a lot of data could wind up corrupted.

Backing up important data on a regular basis is a very smart habit to employ.

backing inportant data is obius, and to get some corrupted data from it is expected.

Just make sure the drive isn't making clicking noises first. Trying to do anything with a drive that is having problems and clicking just increases the chances exponentially of any data becoming unrecoverable.

As already mentioned, it shouldn't pose any threat directly to the new drive, but data may become corrupted.
