PUBG issues

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Fixed: no idea how, just messed around with the game user editor ini file in appdata

Game runs ok, not the best. 30fps min at high, the GPU requirements is way lower though

Bug Description:
The first time I started the game, it was very buggy/laggy

Inputting user name doesn't show any character. If I alt-tab and get back to the game things characters appear again.

Same goes to character creation. I can select stuff but need to alt-tab re tab back to see it.

So then I quit by alt-tabbing and close it. Tried re run again, this time it took about few seconds then I can hear the sound/music of the game. My mouse can move around and hover on stuff that I believe can be clicked on but I can not see anything, just my desktop screen, not the game screen. It happens every time.

I also at one point saw this error (I can not reproduce it so do not remember the exact code) but it is exactly like Steam described https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1274-uohk-5653

Date Seen:
Now, by the time this thread been posted

Server:
Not a test server

Troubleshooting Attempted:
The game was first installed on a HDD, so I deleted it and reinstalled on an SSD. Same issue for both drive.

Set to 'No paging file' in Control Panel. Ended up with lack of memory error.

Restarted PC couple of times.

Made sure GPU driver is up to date (running on AMD ReLive 17.7.2)

Verified cache.

Ran the game as admin.

Made sure TSLGame.exe and BEService_x64.exe is in the firewall.

Manually started BattleEye in services.

Other Information:

Went to AppData but the GameUserSettings isn't there so I couldn't delete it or modify it

Launch Options:
I tried one that steam recommended which is

-window +mat_forcehardwaresync 0

System Specifications:
Operating System: Windows 10 Home, version 1511, build 10586.164
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB (non overclocked)
CPU: i5 4460
Ram: 1 x 8GB DDR3 @ 1600 Mhz

So far PUBG is the only game to fail to launch out of all Steam games I own. :(

-ps copy pasta from my PUBG post.

-LTT is faster

and i change a couple things in there that helped me a bit in game i don't know about anything outside though

also your setup is relatively low end hardware but i've seen the game run flawlessly on a 6600k and 1060 3GB on max settings. i couldn't even believe how well it ran.

it's my friend's PC i built him last year

I had it running ok off a i7-3770, RX 3470 and 16GB ram, upgraded the ram from 8 to 16 and made a huge difference, off my i5-4690K/980/16gb its running 100+ fps on high settings but does dip into the 90's

how exactly is it low end?

well it's low end because it's mid range consumer parts. high end is either top of consumer (unlocked i7 or R7) or HEDT platform x99 x199 or x399. i didn't mean it in a bad way.

in the end the game just has so many problems. it runs over 100fps on my friend's system and on mine the GPU refuses to go to 100% usage and results on 45fps average when it should hit past 100. i think it has serious hardware compatibility problems for most configurations because they don't have enough people to test and fix this. so if you have the hardware they tested for, you will be golden. otherwise well GLHF...

it's not even a question of beta. i don't know what they did with the engine. other "beta" games that used the unreal engine on close to default settings never had these problems. they changes some things for the look and feel they wanted i guess and it broke somewhere along the way.

exactly. and the weirdest part of this is that in lobby GPU is used as it should so you can clearly see what fps you should get. but then when you get in game the GPU isn't fully used and your frame rate tanks. (in steam settings enable show fps counter and you'll see)

I FOUND SOMETHING OUT!!! so i finally ended up downloading gpu-z instead of relying on msi afterburner. and GPU-Z  tells you what the reason for the performance limit is. It said it was Voltage reliability and operation limits. so i max the voltage (+37mV god i wish i could push more)... and guess what GPU usage is much more consistent in the 80s and framerate is solid past the 60s still fluctuating up there but i don't care as long as I'm past my minimum 60Hz. this behaviour is still very odd (it's the only game that does this) but this seems to be the solution.

edit: i'd like to know if this was the issue for others too. let me know
