Well if its $100-$300 for the cpu, ryzen 7 but if not then the 1600, a b350 motherboard and 16gb of ram.  What's your total upgrade budget because you'll have to get new ram motherboard etc

You would be better off going for Ryzen and getting a new motherboard and memory kit. Which is my current plan... although (as I'm not really holding any loyalties) for the effort and money... I might switch to an Intel as the per-thread performance is usually better per dollar, and my gaming rig does no content creation or streaming.
