From what I can gather my desktop memory is failing, it is the oldest part in my computer, its been a while sense I've upgraded ram, nor to I get to often so, I'd appreciate some help

My motherboard

GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z97X-Gaming 7

Failing memory

HyperX Savage 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)

Looking at the memory support list for my mobo, I could only find one of the 2400 8gb stick memory model number still on the market, the rest it appears have had new version come out, the last digit being a 1 instead of a 0

at least I'm guessing that just means its a updated version of the same memory stick, but I honestly don't know, would it be safe to go ahead and buy one of the newer models?

I am currently looking at

G.SKILL TridentX Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200)

and

CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200)

I would go up to 32gb but not looking to spend more then $200

This'll be my first time overclocking too.

Have you run HCLmemtest or similar memory test to confirm it is your memory?

The module should work,  if it is just a new revision , given the small number change, if your previous module worked.
