Hey guys, here at my highschool we're doing some kind of exchange between teachers and ''dedicated'' students, where each volunteer can teach a class of a random topic that isn't a school subject at all; super informal, most of all an internship for high grades. Nonetheless that's where I came in, I'd like to show all the interested people that tech is an awesome thing, and it's not that simple of ''clicking'' and ''touching''. But ayy lmao I'm just 15, have got 0 charisma and never made a project like this indeed.

So, I get the SUPER basics things of how does a computer works and all that stuff, but like if I'm gonna ''teach'' people, I must have know VERY well what I'm saying, so I'm doing researching now, and writting a dossier, but I don't think I'm going to get any help from any professor, and I'd like to give the best, anyway I need your help :p, anyone that can guide me and help me to explain it.

PD: sorry for the bad english, I'm from Argentina.

PDD: I've watching LTT a long time ago, but this is the first time I enter the forum.

What do you know?

Do you know how to build computers?

Do you know how to use networks?

Is the class computer related?

What were some class ideas you were thinking of doing?

From what I've experienced you need some course objectives, and one overall thing.

For instance if it was learning how to build a PC you could do this:

Main idea:

How a computer works, and what all the parts do.

Sections of the class:

Hardwar:

Storage- What are hard drives, SSD, DVD, Blue Ray, Flash drives

Processors- What's a CPU? How is it different from a GPU? What makes a Graphics card different from a GPU?

Memory- What is Cache, what is ram? What are the different types of RAM? How many pins are on each type of ram?

Motherboard- What is it? How does it make everything work? What is BIOS, and UEFI?

Networking- What does networking do? Why would someone want to have a network?

Software

operating systems- What is an operating system? What are the popular ones? What are some systems inside an operating system?

Software- What is a program? How does a program interface with the hardware, and operating system? Is a video game software? How is it similar?

Internet- How does networking and IP work with the internet?

These could all be super short subjects, and you could assign vocabulary.

For instance in CPU:

There are 2 major consumer CPU brands. AMD and intel

AMD and intel used to share the same socket, but now they have different sockets. Not all intel CPU fit in all intel sockets.

How are Intel sockets named? They are named by the amount of pins on the CPU

How are AMD sockets named? By series, and socket generation number. AM3 came out before AM4, but they're different from other AMD sockets.

CPU have cores inside them. Multiple cores act like multiple CPU to let you do more things at once. Cores can have "virtual threads" that allow the core in the CPU to work as if there were more cores in the CPU.

Intel's version of virtual threads is called? Hyperthreading.

Or you can be a dick and make them learn CPU from the beginning of time and how air tubes, and vacuums were used in the original computers in the 1940s and whatnot.

I'm not the best person to ask :P

OP, if you want some books on computer architecture and electronics and stuff PM me and I can give you some books. These might not be what you're look for though as these sound a bit more advanced than what you're looking for? Though I guess you could check them out if you want.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Or this:

@DocSwag

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
