ssd, even if its just for os

What? he has a 960 evo 500gb

I recommend saving up for a 7700k or 8700k eventually because the i5 will begin to decrease in performance.  I would either get a new game now or just save money for a better cpu in the future

🙂

Will I need a new motherboard for the 8700K? (I have not followed coffee lake)

Just wondering: How much and in how long time doe you expect the price of the 7700K to drop?

I only expect a drop of $20-$40, depending on the quality of coffee lake and could be more like 3 months after the release of coffee lake.  If the difference between the two is less than $50, coffee lake is probably a better option

Okay thanks. I don't think it's worth because I also need a new motherboard :/

Well as long as intel doesn't blow their brains out with coffee lake, the 8th gen processors will be supported on z170 and z270 with a simple bios update just like it was moving from z170 to z270 with 7th gen processors.  You will very very very likely NOT need new motherboard/ram with 8th gen processors

🙂

they have openly announced that coffee lake will not be supported by z170 or z270 probably due to the chipset only supporting quad cores so they have had to revise it with a new chipset

would also make sense as there are no xeons that can go on consumer platforms anymore
