Getting scrambled screen when exit sleep win 10

Hey,

So I just updated my laptop for uni by putting a new windows 10 on it which overwrote the old version. I just wanted a fresh start. Im now finding that when I put the laptop to sleep and bring it out I have lots of scrambled vertical and horizontal lines as if I had smashed the screen. When I press enter it changes making me believe I need to put my password in. I have put my password in and it accepts it but the lines still continue to be there and I cant get rid of them. Any thoughts or have I just got a buggy version of windows?

pain in the ass but try to reinstall again

 

same problem, return laptop as it is defective.
