Mac Pro RAM

Hi Guys,

 

I'm probably going to get shamed for bringing MAC questions to a PC forum. but i'm looking at upgrading a Mac Pro late 2013 (Trash Can)'s RAM from the details 4 x 4GB to something like 2 x 16GB or 4 x 8GB

 

Just need to know first of all whether the Mac Pro runs in dual or quad channel, also whether you have to use ECC? as i can see unbuffered, non-ECC ram availabe for a quater of the price?! so wanted to see if it's worth it :)
