AMD & Thunderbolt

Hello,

One of the cool things for me is the Thunderbolt interface that we find on Apple and some Intel motherboards,

Unfortunately AMD motherboards does not carry the proper connector for a plug-in card or on board support for it.

I heard that Intel will be opening the licensing and/or whatever it takes to make this interface more widely available to every platform.

So my question is:

What your toughs about availability of this interface for AMD platform specifically for thredripper CPU, which is the one I have more interest on?

Do you have any other information from Intel or AMD about this interface?

Intel probably won't license thunderbolt anytime soon,specially given the fact that X299 failed so bad.If you are going to buy a CPU,don't be thinking about possibilities,buy it AS IS.

I wouldn't expect it either. Is there a specific reason you'd want or need Thunderbolt?

 

Maybe one day AMD will have their own "standard" for something similar, assuming that future iterations of USB cannot ever get as far s hardware can saturate.
