Problems with new screen

Hi

I recently bought a new screen: Dell 27" LED G-Sync S2716DG

Although the screen is OK, I've notices this wierd screen effect that I haven't seen before. Searching for common screen issues, I can't really find any description that fits my problem. Keep in mind that I don't have a lot of experience with different screens, but before this upgrade I was using Asus VG248 QE 24 inch which I thought was a great screen.

To try and explain the issue; I can only notice it when I have movement on my screen and there is a sharp transition between dark objects onto bright background. E.g. this can be black text on white background. While I scroll steadily down the page, the black text kinda bleed into the white background. It's almost as the pixels on the screen can't switch from black to white fast enough, giving the text a "shadowy" and blurry effect. This is also very noticable in games like PUBG where you have alot of terrain/trees against the bright sky. While aiming/moving, all the dark edges "smudges" into the brighter pixels.

I hope the explanation made some sense. Like I said, its only noticable when there is movement on the screen, but it's quite irritating and I don't feel like this should be an issue on a screen this expensive. Some quick info of hardware and things I've tried so far without any luck:

- My GPU is gtx 980 (can this even have an impact on screen performance?)

- I'm using display port to display port cable

- I've tried loads of different screen settings, especially adjusting contrast and brightness

- I've tried with g-sync both on and off

- I've tried running 60hz and 144hz

I'm close to giving up and returning the screen, but going to try this forum as a last resort to see if there is anyone with more experience who could maybe give me some tips.

Cheers, Kela

If it is happening in windows and other low graphics orientated uses I would contact the manufacturer for support and see if a return is necessary. From the sounds I would think that to be the case. Noticeable ghosting just shouldn't be an issue on a screen in that price range. The manufacturer will also be able to guide you through correct setting in the monitor if there is a fix.

Try adjusting the Trace Free setting in the monitor's menu.
