New or reuse

So I'm in the process of buying parts for my new pc, and one of the parts I've left out so far is the GPU.  Should I get a new 1070, 1080, or reuse the 970 i popped into my prebuilt 2 years ago? I'm looking to do some VR sim racing in the future. Some helpful input would be greatly appreciated

The 970 would still be capable of 1080p gaming and VR. Unless you plan on going to 2k, or just want to get 100+ FPS at 1080p with ultra settings, the 970 is still a great GPU.

depends, what do you play now? what is your monitor? what resolution do you play at? and what refresh rate?

GPU prices are stupid right now, and the 970 is still a powerful GPU.

I currently play Pcars, F12016, Elite Dangerous and a wide array of much less demanding games, looking to get Pcars2 after a while.  This is my monitor https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rkphP6/asus-monitor-vg248qe

since you are playing at 144hz, I would say the 1070 (if you can get it) would be a good buy
