I have just rebuilt my computer upgrading to X299, however the computer works flawlessly passing every benchmark and even torture tests available. However the computer will just randomly turn off instantly and then will not boot back up without pulling the plug and waiting for 5-10minutes. Then works perfectly again until it dies, cycle repeats. Currently its about every 2-3 hours of being turned on for it to cut out, and does not matter what you are doing on it.

After it shuts down and i can boot it up i checked event viewer to see if any errors occured and it flags up two critical errors, "kernel-power" and "task-scheduler" every time kernel power flags up but not task scheduler.

I have tried completely reinstalling windows 10 OS, new powersupply, checked all storage drives on there (ssd, m.2 and hdd), ran multiple stress tests to see temperatures and no parts are exceeding temps to cause shut down, tried using almost all parts in another system except the motherboard and cpu as i dont have another x299 system available. Currently im trying out running without the power on switch by turning on through the mobo.

Current specs of the computer are:

- Asus Strix ROG x299-e

- Intel core i7 7800x 6 core

- Gskill Trident Z RGB 16gb 3200mhz

- Asus Strix gtx 1080

- Nvidia gtx 1080 Founders Edition

- Corsair RM850x

- Samsung 960evo 250gb

- Intel 500gb SSD

- 2x 2TB Seagate HDD

- Custom watercooled Loop

If anyone could point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

It sounds like a mobo issue, though I'm not sure. It could be that some part of the pcb overheats over time just from powering on.

I know you said you tried swapping some parts out but if for some reason you have not tried the power supply I would try it.
