Hp ProLiant ML110 Case Mod

PeaceWalker93

Hi there!

A couple of months ago a friend of mine that works as a programmer told me they were going to get rid of some old servers and computers were he works.

So I got a couple of HP Proliants ML110, some laptops and a random old ATX case for free.

I used the case to build my dad a PC, got rid of the laptops on ebay (Old core 2 duo's mostly) and sold some of the hardware on the HP servers.

So I ended up with two empty HP cases that had an intgrated I/O shield and nobody wanted to buy.

Both looked the same on the outside but the inside parts were quite different (One was an ML110 G4 and the other a G5).

After close inspection I thought the G4 was the easiest one to work with.

(Pictures are from the G5 since I forgot to make any to the G4 pre disassembly. Also the G5's chassis was really messed up, you can see how bad it was bent on the top part)

So after working a bit on this thing over the week i've managed to build something that I think is pretty nice for a computer that was going to be thrown away.

I have inverted the motherboard tray so now the PSU sits on the bottom and the pci expansion slots are on the top, the rear I/O panel has also been cut down to be able to fit standard I/O plates. I also modified the orginal power button an LED's so they can be plugged into a normal mobo (This one used a proprietary connector) And obviously painted the whole thing, the interior and the rear I/O piece's are in satin black, and the exterior is in matte black with the front bezel in red.
