Hi all,

I have a HP DL380 g5 that I use for plex, however, I've noticed that the PSU's buzz.

When the server is turned off and unplugged, I plug it in and the PSU makes a noticeably loud buzzing sound.

When I turn on the server it is drowned out by the fans and I believe the buzzing gets quieter but tends to alternate in how loud it is.

I have also noticed that the systems fans tend to ramp up over time slowly but surely and to reset them i find unplugging the power seems to be the trick

It may be that a simply need to get new PSU's for it, but that is a hard and costly task since it is no longer in production.

I have recently tried the ProLiant service patch which is meant to allow the servers to slow down, but am not there to be able to verify this.

i think you might be looking at a new psu.. you might be able to find refurbished or used on the net, or maybe consider giving the server an upgrade..

Have you tried to perform a sudden temporary interrupt of the electricity flow to your computational device followed by a re-initialization procedure of the central processing unit and associated components?

Pull them one at a time to see which PSU it is, and get a replacement from eBay. e.g

You might want to also consider looking to upgrade to a DL380 G7 or a PowerEdge R710. Much more cost effective platform for beefing up your setup right now
