Hi there. Story time.

I bought a pair of hifiman waterline re400 earbuds, for me and gf. They sound amazing, and are built like a piece of shit. I manages to lose mine, took gf's pair back, gave her akg y20 or whatwasit. Ofc her's are broken by now. I tried to superglue the cable strain reliefs back. One side, huge success, other side, i fcked up, naturally. So I proceded to cement it in all in place with epoxy. Holds ok. Next thing I do, I braid the cables, to strenghthen them and prevent tangles. All is well. I listen to music for a couple of hours, ears start to hurt. Braiding made cables heavy. Goddam it. Naturally I cemented the knots and everything with glue, cause why not. If I wear them over ear, it's better, but mic bump starts to hump my left cheek.

So...

Now I wanna go full retard and take the drivers out, make/buy the enclosure, make it so it's got detachable cables. So far, what I know is: the driver size is 8.5mm, you can get empty earbud shells and mic/buds cables online.

Has anyone done something simmilar? There are no specific 8.5mm shells, can i buy 9mm and fit it inside? I'd kinda like the shells to be as small as possible, and I'd like the connectors to be 2 pin, not sure thats gonna be possible though :/

Any advice?
